The "RIBBON 1" is a ribbon microphone, i.e. the diaphragm is replaced by a corrugated aluminium ribbon which at the same time acts as a moving coil. The voltages from this type of transducer are particularly low. They are fed to a transformer which increases their value. Ribbon microphones are of the electrodynamic type. Although these microphones are suitable for high-quality studio recordings, they are particularly sensitive to shocks and, above all, to wind. This is the general presentation. Applications, this style of microphone is particularly suitable for: 1) Vocal recordings, it is this style of microphone which, in the 50's and early 60's, was the success of the charm singers and the rockers. 2) Taps for amplified instruments, e.g. guitar amp on full blast. 3) Choirs and vocal ensembles. 4) String, Brass and Woodwind sections. 5) Piano and Acoustic Guitar. 6) Drum and Percussion overheads.
