Compatible with MP3, MP2, BWF and WAV formats, the PMD570 has 40 assignable quality settings and a FAT32 file allocation table for future multi-gigabit compatibility. The recording bit rate is adjustable: MP2 stereo: 384, 256, 192, 128, 96, 64 kb/s. MP2 mono: 192, 128, 96, 64, 48, 32 kb/s. MP3 stereo: 320, 256, 160, 128, 80, 64 kb/s. MP3 mono: 160, 128, 80, 64, 40, 32 kb/s. Sampling frequency, analog: 48, 44.1, 32, 24*, 22.05*, 16* kHz (*except MP2). Digital: 48, 44.1 kHz. PCM is 16-bit, linear.
The recording time varies according to the recording mode and the characteristics of the media. In mp3, at 32 kb/s, a 1 GB card will record up to about 71 hours of mono audio and 7 hours in stereo at 320 kb/s. In PCM, at 48 kHz, a 1 GB card will hold about 1.5 hours of stereo material.
Analog audio inputs: two XLR, balanced, +16 dBU= 0 dBFS, attenuation 0 to +24 dB, 24 kohms. Two cinch (RCA/phono), unbalanced, 500 mV RMS, 22 kohm. Analog audio outputs: two cinch (RCA/phono), unbalanced, 2 V RMS maximum, 300 ohms.
Digital inputs and outputs: two cinch (RCA/phono), 0.5 Vdc, 75 ohms, 44.1/48 kHz, SPDIF (IEC-958 Type II).
