C-DUCER it's excellent C-sleeve response to all modes of vibration and its large sensing area make it very effective for a variety of uses that will be discussed later, uses that have little to do with the role it already plays in amplification of conventional acoustic instruments. A brief description of how this new transducer works should first be provided. The transducer itself is less than 1 mm thick, flexible and about ¾" wide. It is available in 3" or 8" lengths and the signal is transmitted to a variety of preamp configurations via a thin wire mesh cable that emerges from the plastic block at one end. In normal use, the transducer simply adheres to stringed instrument resonance boards, including the inside of drum shells. Now, the interior construction reveals a radically different approach to other known methods of contact vibration detection. The thin PVC sheath covers the element, which consists of a pair of coaxial sheets acting as a sensitive capacitor (much like the diaphragm of a condenser microphone). It is essentially the combination of the vibration of this capacitive 'sandwich' with some piezoelectric enhancement of the polymer materials used to insulate the sheets that gives the C-jacket its remarkably flat response across the audio frequency spectrum and its exceptional transient release. So much for the animal. Now for some interesting applications.
In retrospect I would like to say that the B1000 series of microphones are great sounding microphones for recording with or doing a solo performance, but not the optimal decision in a noisy environmentEstimated lifetime of 1000 hours. Don't worry, technical information for battery replacement is given in the manual provided along with other uses and placement information for these contact microphones. The unit being a High-Z output means it will be a 1/4" output. The same as a guitar cable. In order for this to go through most consoles, it will have to be run through a direct box.The C-Ducer microphones come with enough tape to apply, and reapply to the miked surface in case of a mistake or instrument change. One observation I was able to make was that when attaching this system to your instrument, because of its responsiveness, I would be sure to mount it in a way that would not be in the line of contact with hands or picks, if using with stringsThe B1000 Gigster series is a High Z output condenser microphone designed for many applications. The dynamic range >155dB allows variation in applications, being limited only by your imagination. The 8" and 3" lengths allow versatility for stringed instruments, i.e. guitar, banjo, cello, ukelele, Latin percussion instruments. The Gigster series offers a "Tape Tuner" feature which is essentially a bass roll attenuator that will adjust to the proximity of the sound holes and/or bass strings. A 3V lithium battery embedded in the 1/4" jack is only engaged when your patch cord is plugged into it, much like guitar effects pedals and other battery powered units. Use this jack only.
