The Rane brand is a guarantee of quality. They produce top of the range DJ Mixers, and most virtual DJs know Rane from their collaboration with Serato. Almost two years ago we discovered the Rane Sixty-Eight, and I'm looking forward to trying out the younger Rane Sixty-Two. There is also the Sixty-One, which is only slightly different in terms of driving pleasure. The Sixty-Two also comes with the latest version of Serato Scratch Live and timecode CDs or vinyl. The table is made of matt black metal with a touch of pale grey here and there. The table is made of matt black metal with a touch of pale grey here and there. It stands on four rubber feet and has ventilation slots on the side. The table can be fitted with ears for installation in a fixed or mobile installation. The dimensions are quite large, 197 x 381 x 490mm, the weight is 4.3kg. This size is almost standard for a good quality table. The control panel has all the faders, magnetic (so wear-free) no-noise, no-bleed and no-contact faders. The panel is rich in colour with its LED backlit buttons. The rubber knobs are soft, durable and have a 0 trigger. The buttons are solid and feel good under your fingers. Don't worry, you won't crush them! In the centre is a small display for Flex effects, BPM readout and match indicator. It seems to be well laid out and ready to use. The knobs on the front panel are also sturdy and a bit hard, but that's what's needed here, you don't want to unintentionally change a setting, right? This is a real battle mixer. This mixer has two 32bit/48kHz sound cards, each with 20 channels of audio, the maximum currently possible. The rear panel of the Rane Sixty-Two has the bulk of the connections. The rear panel of the Rane Sixty-Two has the bulk of the connections: the main balanced XLR output, a TRS jack booth output, an RCA session input and output, four analogue inputs for turntables (with ground), CD players (and the like), a microphone input, a Flexfx stereo loop (return & send on TRS jack). There is also an IEC power socket and a main switch and plenty of mini selectors. On the front, two headphone jacks, one 6.3 jack, the other 3.5 minijack. There are also two USB ports, allowing the connection of several computers. You will not only receive a printed manual for the Rane 61 and 62, but also a CD-ROM with the latest version of Serato Scratch live. The manual can also be downloaded from www.rane.com. It is in A4 format, very large with 60 professionally written pages in English. It is full of detailed explanations of Serato Software. There is no lack of illustrations and photos, and the MIDI tables can be found at the end of the book.
