Information The M3 is the new generation of KORG workstation. It uses the OASYS HD-1 synthesizer. It features a revolutionary modular aesthetic and a new keyboard generation. The M3 uses a new sound synth called EDS (Enhanced Definition Synthesis), a new resonant multi-mode filter, a new "Drive" parameter that recreates harmonic distortion for analog sounds, AMS modulation capabilities, and a PCM engine (HD-1) that offers up to 4 stereo oscillators per tone. The M3 also features the second generation of KARMA technology. This revolutionary algorithmic performance technology generates phrases, grooves, and other musical effects that can be altered in real time. The M3 is equipped with 8 stage memories, 8 linear potentiometers, and 8 switches for quick and easy control of the KARMA system. The M3 can be equipped with the optional KORG MMT (Multiple Modulation Technology of RADIAS, in the form of an EXB-RADIAS card). This new synth mode uses analog mods, VPM (FM) mods, voice-forming mods as well as a 16-band vocoder and PCMs. The polyphony of this card is 24 voices and it offers 128 additional programs. Regarding connections, the M3 offers the optional EXB-Firewire, which will allow the M3 to communicate in Audio and MIDI with a computer station or a KORG ZERO series digital table. From an ergonomic point of view, the M3 looks like an old analog synth with its tilting dashboard. The M3 is equipped with a touch screen with a new feature that allows you to control the synth's parameters in real time with your finger on two axes like with the KaossPad series. New KKS system : The M3 uses the "KKS" system (Korg Komponent System) joining the module and the keyboard set (61/73/88 notes) by a removable mechanism. This allows the installation of other expanders on the keyboard set (for 73 and 88 notes) or to mount two M3 modules simultaneously (only on the 88 notes). The M3 module can be removed from the keyboard assembly and used on its own. You can also tilt the module for easy access. With this system you have an extremely flexible material base for future KKS products. The M3 series comes with editor/librarian software and these workstations are recognized as plug-in. Expandable with a wide range of options: You can boost the power of your M3 by installing an EXB-RADIAS analog modelling synthesizer card (24-note polyphony). The EXB-M256 expands the internal sampling capacity to 320 MB, the EXB-FW allows for a single FireWire (IEEE 1394) connection, and the EX-USB-PCM series of PCM libraries is expected to be released in the near future.
